BOS beef

ESA Foods sells a wide range of BOS beef products. These BOS beef products are tailored to meet our customers’ requirements.

The calves are purchased from rigorously-selected farmers. These calves are reared in accordance with the applicable guidelines for calf breeding and the EU welfare standards. The calves’ welfare is of the utmost importance. They are inspected by the SKV (Foundation for Quality Guarantee of the Veal Sector). SKV guarantees that no growth-promoting substances or hormones are used in veal production in the Netherlands. In addition, a number of government institutions carry out inspections in their supervisory capacity, such as the AID (the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality‘s General Inspection Service) and the VWA (Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority). And the SKV inspections are also ISO 9001 and Sterin certified.

The calves are slaughtered at the ESA veal abattoir. The ESA veal abattoir is one of the biggest and most modern slaughterhouses and veal-processing plants in Europe, and is certified for ISO Quality and Environment, HACCP and BRC Global Standard. ESA also has its own quality department that collaborates with certified laboratories: this department ensures that the established protocols are stringently adhered to.

All data collected during the slaughtering process is automatically filed in the IVI®, the quality, information and knowledge management system of the Alpuro Group. The available identification data accompanying slaughtering is also filed in the
IVI®-system.
