The animal feed companies of VanDrie Group receive environmental certificate
The four animal feed companies of the VanDrie Group in the Netherlands recently received an environmental certificate. The companies (Alpuro, Navobi, Tentego and Schils) have been certified as compliant with the ISO 14001 international standard.
ISO 14001 lays down requirements in the area of environmental management. Certification illustrates the way in which VanDrie animal feed companies are investing in continuous improvement in services and environmental protection, such as by preventing pollution and reducing emissions.
Christian Kievit (Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Coordinator for the four feed companies) steered the certification process. He explains: “The certification was a long-standing wish of the animal feed companies. Although the companies were already taking part in energy agreements in our sector, and taking steps towards sustainability, certification was the icing on the cake. It is great news that Alpuro, Navobi, Tentego and Schils have all be certified.”
Of course, that is not the end of the road for the animal feed companies. “We are just getting started,” explains Christian. “The management system is now in place, but we need to work actively on the measures. The final target is to achieve climate neutral operation by 2030. In the future, the feed companies will need to invest a lot of effort in energy reduction measures.”
