ESA’s traceability system is the only one of its kind in the world. Each meat part that leaves the company carries the individual ID number (ear tag number) of the animal. This means the meat can always be traced to an individual animal.
VealVision allows information on the calf farmer and the calf to be found on the Internet.
The trace system also allows forward tracing. All parts of the carcass can be traced to the consumers that received them. If there are suspicions regarding the quality of the meat, it can easily be traced by means of a recall.
